Leaving the Cubicle Behind to Explore the World

Outer Banks, North Carolina, USA

I worked in Telecom and Financial Services for 16 years in positions as an analyst, supervisor, accountant, trader, you get the idea.  Eventually the comfortable office buildings could contain me no longer.  The jobs, people, and pay were nice, but I yearned to travel.  I decided to do it.

The blog was born of friends’ and former colleagues’ requests for updates and photos.  I am honored that others are interested in my adventures.  More importantly, I hope that you get out and have your own adventures.

How are you traveling? Can you share some ideas? I am thinking of similar road trips next year.

Sure – can you give me a little more specifics on what you’re looking for?

Are you traveling alone? What kind of car do you drive? Where do you stay at night (hotel/motel, camping)? How do you eat (restaurants or cooking)? How long in miles and days is each trip? And anything else you think is relevant. You can send me email at neihtn@yahoo.com if you want.

Hi, I love your blog, and your photography. I actually found your blog through your post on Isle Royale. I inadvertently used one of your photos instead of the public domain photos for a jigsaw puzzle on Jigidi.com . http://www.jigidi.com/user_profile.php?name=kelmor Let me know if you would like for me to take it down.

Your photos are beautiful, and are helping me through my office days. many thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. I am very glad to hear you enjoy the blog and photography. It is fine to keep my photo on Jigidi as shown in the Jigidi link you provided. I may ask you to take it down in the future if required by business needs, but for now it is fine. I would ask that you change the copyright attribution for the “larger” version to “Jerry at Office Escape: Traveling the USA.” I typically don’t get into puzzles, but my mom loves them. I did manage to fit a few pieces of this one together:) Have you been to Isle Royale?

      Best, Jerry
